Lee Roy Selmon's lifestyle is one of football scholarship, family work and community involvement. He was the youngest son from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon. They took care of him at the family farm near Eufala. Second football he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. The three brothers all made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the United States. For three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. They also won 2 national titles. In 1975, he was awarded his third scholarship, and was named the National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon received a degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during the college. He settled down in Tampa following college. He played with the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and was three-times all-pro. His business career began. In 1988, while working as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs when he was a student athlete. He captained the 1975 team. In 1993, he was named assistant director of the University of South Florida. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
